Thoughtful Planning
Planning a funeral in advance can be great way of easing the emotional toil on your family in the event of your death.

Some people, parents especially, avoid discussing their final arrangements believing that, 'It won't happen' but of course, death is an unavoidable event for all.

By planning a funeral in advance, you can rest assured that your funeral arrangements have been taken care of, your individual wishes have been taken account of and everything has been paid in full.

Planning ahead can also avoid any confusion in terms of what an individual would like from their funeral.

In such instances where an individual suffers from dementia or some other inability, but they have a pre-planned funeral arrangement in place, there leaves absolutely no doubt as to their final wishes, song and flower preferences as well as their specified service order.

Another factor to consider relate to finances; in many situations where a pre-paid funeral plan is in place, the funeral itself has been paid in full, often many years in advance. This means that unless there are significant changes specified by the person arranging the funeral itself, there should be nothing to pay, or very little if there is something to pay.

Another significant benefit of arranging a funeral in advance of your death is that in many cases, families are kept informed of such arrangements whereas without such pre-arranged measures in place, families assume a Will exists but are unaware of its location.

Pre-paid funeral plans are typically organised with local funeral directors which, in most towns and cities, narrows the options relating to searches and every holder of plans are typically issues with a plastic card, similar to a credit or debit card- entitled, 'Membership Card.'

Many people 'play down' their own funeral arrangements in the misguided ideal that it will reduce the amount of pain and suffering our loved ones experience. In the majority of cases, it is a misconception.

Naturally, it is extremely sad event when a loved one passes away, not only for the family but also friends and colleagues. For many, attending a memorial occasion is a necessity for their own personal grief journey as they want to remember the person who has 'made a difference' to their lives.

With this in mind, it is only natural that there is a mechanism in place to acknowledge those who have made a 'difference' and to say, 'Goodbye' as we share our feelings and thoughts with like-minded people who loved and cared for the deceased in question.
