What You'll Receive
If you are on a low income and need assistance to pay for a funeral you are arranging, you could get a Funeral Payment benefit.

Intended to help pay for the funeral, the payment is recoverable from the deceased person's estate, if they have left one. Here at Exmouth & District Funeral Services, we are able to help guide you through this process. However, please see below for the initial steps to get you on your way.

How much financial assistance you will get depends greatly on your individual circumstances.

The Funeral Payment can help pay for the following:

  • Burial Fees
  • Up to £700.o0 for funeral expenses, e.g, funeral directors fee, coffin and flowers
  • Cremation fees, including the cost of the doctor's certificate
  • Travel expenses to arrange or attend the funeral
  • The costs for moving the body within the UK- but only for the section of the journey that is over 50 miles

If the deceased had a pre-paid funeral plan, you will only receive help for items not covered by their individual plan.

Typically, if the funeral director has not been paid, the money is paid direct to them to cover their costs.

However, if the funeral director has been paid, the money is then paid into your own account- e.g a bank account of your choice.

At Exmouth & District Funeral Services, we realise that this is an unusual and difficult time for you. As such, your contact with us is a personal and professional priority. Our primary goal is to be available to you and perform the professional and caring service needed, in order to reduce the burden to you and your family.
